Ok so the loot is in, and there are leftovers everywhere. Chocolate, chips, gum and candies are screaming out to you. How in the world are you going to remain in control? It just doesn’t make sense to throw all your hard work out the window. These foods are the enemy! They cause blood sugar fluctuations, weight gain, and cravings. These delectable hazards also suppress your immune system for up to 6 hours after consumption (not a good idea during cold and flu season). But how do we say no? Simple follow the seven tips below and you’ll be sure to avoid a Halloween Hangover.
1)Put them away, or better yet give it away. Out of sight out of mind. If they still talk to you from the closet, toss them. They want you to want them, you know.
2)Focus on your regular meals and snacks. This will help maintain healthy blood sugar levels throughout the day, reducing the chances of cravings for the “undesirables”.
3)Focus on your protein at Breakfast, lunch and supper. This will help your brain and body remain satisfied.
4)Focus on getting your five servings of vegetables in per day.
5)Fruit, keep lots of fresh fruit handy. Fruit, full of fibre and nutrients is a great way to feel instantly satisfied.
6)Plan your meals and snacks. Being prepared is only going to increase the chances you will fill yourself with nourishing, healthy foods. When we have healthy options readily available it’s easier to say NO to the junk.
7)Exercise. This is a big one, not only is it going to burn extra calories, increase your energy levels, reduce your risks of diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular disease, but why would you undo all that hard work at the gym or from home with one ugly little treat.
I hope all of you are doing fantastic during these times of temptation. Hang in there. I’m rooting for you.
If you need any help or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call, I have a hundred reasons to eat healthy and a hundred more on why to avoid those taunting little treats.
Yours in good health
